Jonathan Piel, a founding member of the Four Freedoms Democratic Club, is the club's endorsed candidate for State Committeeman, 76th District. A New York County Committee Member, he is also a non-voting member of the East Side and Lenox Hill Democratic Clubs. He is also a former public member of Community Board 8, and produced its monthly cablecast, CB8 Speaks. The retired Editor and President of Scientific American, he is the acting and former president of the Henderson Place Historic District Association and serves on the board of the Mount Sinai Children’s Environmental Health Center. He is very concerned about the Marine Transfer Station and will work hard with Democrats local and not-so-local to ensure that this boondoggle never comes to fruition.
Based on his strong progressive beliefs and history of local activism, the Four Freedoms Democratic Club is eager to elect Jonathan to join Ruth in representing our district to the state party. We firmly believe that his dedication to the cause of progressive activism in New York City, and on the Upper East Side in particular, will strengthen both our party and our local political discourse.
Ruth Halberg has been a strong progressive voice in the New York State Democratic Party for a generation. In recognition of her unwavering commitment to progressive causes over the years, Ruth has been selected by her fellow State Committee Members to be part of the New York Democratic Party's Executive Committee.
Ruth has brought her insight and institutional knowledge to the State Party for the benefit of Democrats on the Upper East Side, and all over the state. The Four Freedoms Democratic Club is proud to endorse Ruth Halberg to continue to represent our assembly district to the state party.
