superdelegates

On May 24th, 2016 The membership discussed a resolution proposed by the club's Policy Committee regarding Superdelegates at the Democratic National Convention. The debate was spirited; over a dozen members spoke either in favor or in opposition of the resolution. When all was said and done, the club membership voted to adopt the following resolution:

The Four Freedom Democratic Club hereby resolves that:

1. The Democratic presidential nomination process should be reformed so that the Democratic nominee is chosen solely by delegates democratically elected for that purpose. Nothing in this resolution prevents the election of unpledged delegates as long as they are elected in a democratic process.

2. Superdelegates at the 2016 Democratic National Convention should initially vote for the Democratic candidate receiving the popular vote in the district, state, or territory they represent.

Thank you to all of our members who weighed in on the discussion. The debate was robust and informative! To learn more about the club's policy positions, you can click HERE.
