Four Freedoms Democratic Club Endorses Assemblymember Alex Bores in Democratic Primary to Succeed Rep. Jerry Nadler in NY-12

to support Upper East Sider and former club party officer.

The Four Freedoms Democratic Club (FFDC), Manhattan’s largest and most progressive local political club, today announced its endorsement of Assemblymember Alex Bores in the Democratic Primary for New York’s 12th Congressional District.

Born and raised in NY-12, and a former party officer of Four Freedoms, Bores captured more than 80% of the club vote on Feb. 12 in the only round of ranked-choice voting.

“At the FFDC, we have witnessed firsthand the passion and integrity that Alex Bores brings to the cause of governing well and for everybody," said FFDC President Jerry Ferguson. "His ability to connect with voters and hear their needs is inspiring. We are proud to do whatever we can to elect Alex to represent us in Washington.”

Bores attended P.S. 6, Wagner Middle School, and Hunter High School on the Upper East Side, and is now raising his newborn son Charlie here with his wife, Darya. After assuming public office, Bores maintained a close working relationship with Four Freedoms. The club’s Impact of Technology Working Group has worked closely with Bores to fight for technological guardrails, and Bores frequently consults with FFDC’s party officers on political and policy issues that impact the Upper East Side and New York at large.

"I'm honored to have earned the support of FFDC," Bores said. "This endorsement means the world to me — these are my neighbors, people who know this district inside and out, and understand what's at stake.

"NY-12 needs a representative who will fight for progress on the national stage — and someone with deep roots in the district. That’s me. In Washington, I will do what I do best: work towards solutions, confront complex realities, and find creative ways to make life better for New Yorkers. I’m running to build a future that every New Yorker can see themselves in, to keep delivering for the communities that raised me, and to represent this district with homegrown pride.”

As an Assemblymember representing portions of the East Side, Bores has been recognized by the Center for Effective Lawmaking as the most effective new legislator from NYC. Through the start of the 2026 legislative session, Bores has passed 27 bills through the State Assembly – all for the purpose of improving the quality of life in his district. He raised fines on spam telemarketers preying on seniors, protected workers’ intellectual property rights, and reduced court backlogs by creating new judgeships. He also secured over $50 million for district organizations in 2025.

Bores is the first Democrat elected in New York State at any level with a degree in computer science. TIME magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world on artificial intelligence for passing the strongest AI safety law in the country.

The June 23 Primary will decide the Democratic nominee for the November general election to replace Rep. Jerry Nadler, who announced in September 2025 that he would not seek reelection after more than 32 years in office.

NY-12, redrawn in 2022, now includes the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and all of Midtown Manhattan.
