FFDC Endorses Council Member Kallos for Manhattan Borough President

At its January 21st meeting attended by over 110 members of the community, the Four Freedoms Democratic Club (FFDC) voted to endorse current City Council Member Ben Kallos for Manhattan Borough President.

The FFDC), based in Manhattan's Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island, is one of the largest and most active Democratic Clubs in Manhattan. The Club heard from all candidates in the Manhattan Borough President race at its January 21st meeting, before conducting its endorsement vote at its January 21st meeting.

"Four Freedoms Democratic Club has fought alongside me to win important fights for democracy, like our city's new full public matching campaign finance system,” said Council Member Kallos. “They have also been crucial in winning support for building shelters for our homeless right here on the Upper East Side. This is a savvy democratic club and they know how to get things done. With Four Freedoms Democrats endorsing me for Borough President, I look forward to continuing our fight for good government, housing for the homeless, and affordable housing throughout Manhattan.”

“Council Member Kallos has been engaged with our Club since our founding and has been a strong advocate for our neighborhood,” said Four Freedoms Democratic Club President Jerry Ferguson. “We are excited to see Council Member Kallos expand his impact to all of Manhattan as Borough President.”

Council Member Kallos currently represents District 5, where he has helped secure funding for 900 pre-k seats for students, 550 emergency hospital beds, and the construction or preservation of 1,000 units of affordable housing (and 7,000 citywide).
