The Four Freedoms Democratic Club will elect its Officers and Executive Board Members-at-Large at our annual meeting. Members present also will vote on proposed amendments to our Club Constitution, and make an endorsement in the District 12 Congressional race.
The proposed amendments change the date of our our annual elections from January to November. This change is proposed so that the Club's new Executive Board can begin each year in place and ready for action. This change would also lighten the load on our meetings early in the year where we often have important endorsements to consider. We will vote on these amendments after we conduct our Executive Board Elections so that these amendments will not change for the timing of election of the 2020 Executive Board. If these amendments pass, we will elect the 2021 Executive Board in November 2020, instead of January 2021.
The other proposed changes clarify that the term of the Members-at-Large is one year (the Constitution is currently silent on this point) and expressly authorizes the Board to establish standing committees and working groups. Currently, the Constitution only expressly provides for “ad hoc committees” for a specific period of time.
The current Executive Board has unanimously endorsed all of these amendments.
The specific amendments appear here in track changes.
