FFDC Board Issues Statement Reaffirming Club's Support of Congestion Pricing

"The Four Freedoms Democratic Club, representing the 76th Assembly District in Manhattan, stands firmly against Governor Hochul’s complete reversal against implementing congestion pricing. In 2019, our club overwhelmingly supported congestion pricing as a viable funding source for repairing the NYC subway system and improving traffic flow in lower Manhattan. Now, the MTA faces a $15 billion shortfall, resulting in indefinite delays to more-than-necessary subway repair and upgrade projects.

"To maintain its status as a world-class city, New York must have a first-class subway system serving its citizens and visitors. Congestion-pricing plans have been successfully implemented in other major venues, including London, Stockholm, and Singapore. We urge Governor Hochul to reconsider her decision, as this is an opportunity for New York City to not just catch up, but to lead the nation in implementing congestion pricing, a move that would inspire other cities to follow suit."
