For the first time since the lockdown in March 2020, the Four Freedoms Democractic Club held is monthly meeting in person, while also offering participation on line for those who preferred to connect remotely
Joining us in person were Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright. We also heard from Steven Romalewski, a Dirctor of the CUNY Center for Urban Research who gave us insights into the redistricting process taking place in New York this year. Members also passed a resolution calling for greater transparency in the administration by City of New York Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) of the Participation Loan Program (PLP) which is intended to provide affordable low and moderate housing but is currently failing many who relay on housing made available under this program.
"While we are happy to see the FFDC moving into the post-pandemic era" said President Jerry Ferguson, "we also want to continue to benefit from the technology that we adopted to stay connected while stay-at-home orders were in effect. Hybrid In-person/Zoom meetings will be a permenant part of our events going forward."
New Elected District Leader Alex Bores -- who was instrumental in the FFDC's transition to Zoom meetings last year -- was instrumental in making this hybrid meeting a sucess and ensuring that the technology operated smoothly and in a manner that permitted full participation from remote and in-person participants.
