FFDC Calls for Re-Election of Keith Powers for City Council District 4

An early supporter of Keith Powers when he first ran for City Council in 2017, the FFDC has endorsed him for re-election to New York City Council in 2021.

“I am proud to be endorsed by the Four Freedoms Democratic Club," Council Member Powers said. "Freedoms is a club that embodies the progressive democratic values of our party and puts its values into action. Thank you, for your continued support!”

"The FFDC was one of the first organizations to endorse Council Members Powers in his 2017 run," said FFDC President Jerry Ferguson. "He has validated our choice with the thoughtful leadership he has shown and the way he has fought for issues important to FFDC members."

As Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee, Council Member Powers shepherded the historic vote to permanently close Rikers Island and replace it with a borough-based jail system. He piloted and made permenant the program the 14th Street busway corridor to improve crosstown commutes.

The FFDC is a large and active Democratic Club based in Roosevelt Island and the Upper East Side, including portions of Council District 4. The Club endorsed endorsed Council Member Powers on the evening of Thursday December 17th, after conducting a forum attended by over 120 members of the community, where all candidates were invited to present their vision for the District.
