The Club is hosting a panel of public transit experts to discuss the State of New York City's subway system and what can be done to remedy it. The panelists will include:
- City Council Member Helen Rosenthal: Council Member Rosenthal represents the 6th City Council District on the Upper West Side and is currently serving her second term. Since joining the Council she has been a leading advocate not just for increased investment in our subway infrastructure but also for reforms within the MTA to improve its cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Charles Komanoff: Mr. Komanoff is an energy economist and transportation advocate. He “re-founded” the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives in the 1980s, co-founded the pedestrian-rights group Right Of Way in the 1990s, and wrote or edited the landmark reports Subsidies for Traffic, The Bicycle Blueprint, and Killed By Automobile.
- Stephen J. Smith: Mr. Smith is a real estate analyst and journalist. He is the co-founder of the real estate data analytics firm Quantierra, and previously covered real estate for the New York Observer and wrote about housing and transportation for the city planning blog Market Urbanism.
